A Perfect Gift for Yourself or Somebody Special
The horses of the TRF need your support. If you love Thoroughbreds, sponsoring one of our permanent residents is a fun way to get up close and personal with a TRF horse without ever setting foot on a farm.
Sponsorships are a unique and meaningful gift for those hard-to-shop-for people in your life!
If you don’t wish to sponsor at this time, make a gift to the TRF in honor of your friend or loved one and we will send a special card.

Here’s the Sponsorship story of Renaissance Bob and his sponsors, Bill and Sue Finley:
The New York-bred was once an allowance winner at Saratoga, but the nagging injuries that can affect a horse when they get older caught up to him. Eventually, he was unable to compete at even the lowest class level at Penn National. From there, economically worthless as a racehorse, he wound up at an auction where he was purchased by a buyer whose intention was to send him to the slaughterhouse.
But, Bill Finley, while working on a story about horse slaughter for the New York Daily News, stepped in and convinced the slaughterhouse middleman to sell him Renaissance Bob for a few hundred dollars. Inches away from death, Renaissance Bob was saved. The Finleys turned him over to the TRF, and Renaissance Bob now enjoying his retirement at a TRF farm in New York, where the Finleys continue to sponsor him each year.
“Now, for just $5 a day—the price of our morning coffee—we “own” our racehorse,” Sue Finley said. “He’s near enough that we can visit him, and as his sponsors, we do. Watching him roam his paddock in safety, a world away from the fate that awaited him… well, it’s hard to imagine there is any way our few dollars a day could have been better spent.”
