At age 30, Quick Call is a TRF elder statesman but in his earlier days he was a superstar who raced for 7 years and dominated the New York tracks. The graded stakes winner reeled off half of his 16 career wins at the legendary Saratoga Race Course, where he continues to be honored each summer by his namesake race, the Quick Call Stakes. He now spends his days at the TRF’s farm at Wallkill Correctional Facility in Wallkill, NY.
Says Jim Tremper, longtime farm manager at Wallkill “Quick can be a little moody and if he doesn’t like you, he’ll let you know right away.” But the dark bay gelding has earned the right to retire on his own terms and is still a farm favorite. He and most of his equine buddies in the “old guys” paddock at Wallkill have been together for over 15 years, and they will still go for an occasional spirited romp together.
